Wilmette police arrest two in home burglaries; similar to Skokie, Glenview crimes

Wilmette Police Department officers have arrested two people in connection with several local residential burglaries, police said.

Tewayne T. Kennedy, 28, of the 8900 block of Lavergne Avenue, Skokie, and Eric P. Seaton, 36, of the 1900 block of Prairie Square, Schaumburg, were both charged with residential burglary after Wilmette police investigated three overnight burglaries of unlocked houses east of Green Bay Road in July and August, according to Wilmette Deputy Police Chief Michael Robinson.

The burglaries were similar to recent burglaries in Evanston, Skokie, Glenview and Morton Grove, according to Wilmette Police.

Using digital forensic technology, Wilmette officers identified a suspect in the theft of the stolen materials that included laptop computers, small electronics, wallets and a small amount of cash, Robinson noted.

“That was a matter of sharing intelligence with the other departments,” Robinson said. “We were able to determine that we had a common suspect.”

Wilmette police arrested Kennedy on Aug. 27 and he was also charged with criminal trespass to residence and resistance to a police officer after he attempted to flee on foot, but was quickly apprehended, Robinson said.

After Kennedy’s arrest, a search warrant was subsequently issued for Seaton and stolen items believed to be involved in the burglaries were located at his residence, Robinson said. Seaton was also charged with unlawful possession of controlled substance as officers discovered narcotics at the location.

Kennedy and Seaton both appeared at Cook County’s Skokie courthouse on Aug. 29 and were remanded to custody at the Cook County Jail, according to a Cook County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.

An arrest does not constitute a conviction.
