Wind advisory in effect for Chicago area on Wednesday

National Weather Service officials issued a wind advisory Wednesday in effect from 2 p.m. to midnight, warning of dangerous conditions and possible power outages.

Officials are expecting wind gusts of 45 mph in several Illinois counties including Iroquois, Cook, DuPage, Will, Kankakee and Lake.

Officials said the gusty winds may blow around unsecured objects and tree limbs and cause power outages.

On Wednesday, there is a 20 percent chance of rain that increases to 90 percent as the day continues, officials said.

Current conditions at O’Hare International Airport are overcast at 50 degrees, and farther south at Midway Airport conditions are the same at 52 degrees.

As temperatures fall Wednesday to the low 30s, there is a chance for snow in the area around 5 p.m. when temperatures transition to the high 20s, officials warned.
