Winners of Chicago’s ‘You Name a Snowplow’ contest announced

The votes are in and the winners of the third annual “You Name a Snowplow” contest have been named.

The Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation announced the six winners Tuesday. One snowplow in each of the city’s six snow districts will receive signage with one of the winning names, joining the snowplow fleet that was first announced in 2023.

The winning names are:

  1. Bozo the Plown
  2. Lollaplowlooza
  3. My Kind of Plow
  4. Snower Wacker
  5. Scoop, There It Is!
  6. Bean There, Plowed That

For the past three years, Chicagoans have been asked to submit names for the contest. Department staff members then pick 50 names from the thousands of submissions they receive. Finally, residents vote for the top six names.

Residents who submitted winning names get the chance to take a photo with their named snowplow in the next few weeks and receive city swag.

“Thank you again to the many Chicagoans who continue to engage in this contest by submitting and voting for these fun and creative names,” said Streets and Sanitation Commissioner Cole Stallard.
