Wisconsin men killed in Lake County crashes

Two men from Wisconsin were killed in separate auto accidents in northeastern Lake County, authorities said.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office said Eric Kott, 75, of Oak Creek, died Friday after his Dodge Ram truck collided with a semi towing a trailer on Interstate 94 in Gurnee.

Kott was headed north on I-94 near Illinois Route 21 around 2:30 p.m. when he changed lanes and struck the semi. Kott’s truck left the roadway, ran up an embankment and rolled over, partially ejecting Kott. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

In the second incident, Quincharles Hayes, 34, of Kenosha, died in a single-vehicle crash in Waukegan, the coroner said.

Hayes was killed when his Chevrolet Malibu struck a guardrail near the intersection of Amstutz Parkway and Greenwood Avenue at around 11:59 p.m. Sunday. Hayes was partially ejected and died from head and neck injuries, the coroner’s office said.

The crash remains under investigation by Waukegan police and the Major Crash Assistance Team.
