An 18-year-old woman was fatally wounded overnight in a drive-by shooting on the Near South Side, Chicago police said.
Around midnight, officers responded to a call of a person shot in the first block of East 21st Street and found two people with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle, police said.
An 18-year-old woman suffered two gunshot wounds to the chest, and was pronounced dead at the scene. A 38-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the hand, and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition.
A witness at the scene told police the victims were shot by someone in a passing vehicle. No one was in custody and detectives are investigating.
