Woman, 41, fatally injured in overnight crash on Southwest Side

A 41-year-old woman was fatally injured overnight when she lost control of a vehicle traveling on the southwest side and struck a pole, Chicago police said.

Shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday, the woman was headed north in the 7700 block of South Cicero Avenue when she lost control of a Nissan Altima and struck a pole, police said. She was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where she was pronounced dead.

A 35-year-old man, who was a passenger suffered minor injuries in the crash, was taken to the same hospital where he was listed in fair condition.

The Major Accident Investigation Unit was on the scene, police said.
