A 49-year-old woman died from injuries she suffered Monday afternoon in an apartment complex fire that broke out in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood, officials said.
About 4 p.m., police and firefighters responded to a fire at an apartment complex in the 1500 block of West 17th Street.
At least seven adults exited the complex, but one woman was taken by ambulance to Stroger Hospital where she was pronounced dead, fire officials said.
No one else was injured during the afternoon blaze and officials were investigating.
