Woman in critical condition after early morning car crash in Lincoln Park

A car collision in Lincoln Park early Sunday morning has left a 44-year-old woman in critical condition, according to Chicago police. Five other individuals involved refused medical treatment after sustaining minor injuries or were transported to local hospitals in good condition.

The 44-year-old woman was the rear passenger in a southbound silver sedan struck by a northbound white sedan on the 2600 block of North Ashland Avenue at 12:50 a.m. The Chicago Fire Department transported her to Illinois Masonic Hospital with severe facial lacerations.

Another rear passenger of the silver sedan, a 35-year-old man, also sustained facial injuries but was reported in good condition and transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The silver sedan driver, whose gender and age were not identified, only had minor injuries and refused medical treatment.

The driver of the white sedan, a 21-year-old woman, sustained head lacerations and a leg injury. She was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition. Her front-seat passenger, a 23-year-old woman, was also reported in good condition after sustaining a fracture. She was transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital. A third unidentified passenger had minor injuries and refused medical treatment.

The police department said it is continuing to investigate and citations are being issued accordingly.
