Workers in several departments at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital got a special delivery earlier this month, with dozens of floral bouquets given to them as part of a local service organization’s effort to spread joy.
More than 200 floral arrangements were delivered to the hospital campus in Park Ridge on Nov. 14, gifted from Inspire Through Flowers, self-described as an organization that repurposes some flowers and gives them to health care workers, patients and other community groups, according to a news release.
Workers in the respiratory, food and nutrition, environmental services, guest services/transport, case management, sterile processing, surgical services and the emergency departments received bouquets, according to the release.
The giveaway marked the 30,000th bouquet delivery for Inspire Through Flowers, the release explained.
“It was an honor to have our teammates selected as the recipients of such beautiful bouquets created by Inspire Through Flowers – a great reminder that their hard work and selfless dedication don’t go unnoticed,” hospital President Allison Wyler stated in the release. “Our health care workers go above and beyond every day to provide the best possible care for all, and we are grateful for any opportunity to celebrate them.”
The release explains that the flowers-giving event was sponsored by the Advocate Lutheran General Service League, which raises money to help support hospital programs and services.
As the flowers were passed out, workers receiving them were thanked for their commitment to patients and community members, the release states.
“The gift of a bouquet is an unexpected moment of joy, powerful and affirming,” Ellen Mink, Inspire Through Flowers co-founder and board member, stated in the release. “It enriches lives, lifts spirits, and lets others know we care.”
