Holy Angels Cathedral: 640 Tyler St. — The Diocese of Gary will host a Day of Service on Aug. 17 as part of its Summer Eucharistic Revival, starting with a 9 a.m. Mass at the cathedral and followed by service activities, including volunteering at the Saints Monica and Luke food pantry, landscaping at diocesan cemeteries, packing donations for area migrant workers, and more. The event will conclude with a 1 p.m. Community Cookout with the Franciscans.

Marquette Park United Methodist Church: 215 N. Grand Blvd. — All are welcome to worship at 11:15 a.m. Sundays at Marquette Park United Methodist Church. There will be refreshments to follow in the Fellowship Hall.

Temple Israel: 601 N. Montgomery St. — The Temple’s Sisterhood will host a summer-themed Nosh and Paint on Aug. 1. Cost is $40 for food, drinks and paint supplies. RSVP by July 29 to templeisraelmiller@gmail.com.

Liberty Bible Church: 1155 S. Sturdy Road — The Lindsley Brothers, an “acoustic funk” band featured on the last season of “American Idol”, will perform along with Liberty Valparaiso’s new Worship & Outreach Director Max Anliker at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 5.
