Zion man facing charges after allegedly driving on runway of Campbell Airport in Grayslake

A man was arrested after he allegedly drove on an active runway at a small Grayslake area airport and then was found in an airplane, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Erik Deanda-Gonalez, 30, of Zion, was charged with criminal trespass and other misdemeanors after the incident which happened just before noon on Tuesday at the Campbell Airport.

Sheriff’s deputies responding to a call for service said that Deanda-Gonzalez was racing his Toyota back and forth on an active runway.
