A Zion man was shot to death early Friday by an assailant who fired into the man’s residence, the Lake County Major Crime Task Force said.
The man, 39, was shot at around 2:40 a.m. by gunfire that originated from outside, the task force said. Authorities believe that the man was targeted.
The identity of the man had yet to be released Friday.
The task force said Zion police were called to the residence in the 2900 block of Elizabeth Avenue after receiving reports of gunfire. They arrived and found the mortally wounded man. Police and paramedics provided first aid, but the man was later pronounced dead at an area hospital.
